Heart Bow

A way to meet what is near

Heart Bow is one of five named Field Forms. It brings the palms together at the chest and offers a simple point of contact within what you are already noticing.

The palms and fingers meet in an upright position at the center of the chest. The image illustrates the hand position; its light does not represent something you need to see or feel.

Find the Position

Bring your hands together in a comfortable prayer-like position at the center of your chest. Let the palms meet fully, with the fingers pointing upward. There is no need to press.

Let the contact of your hands accompany what is already present. You can lower or separate them whenever you are ready.

If bringing your palms together is uncomfortable or unavailable, let one hand rest comfortably near the chest, or notice another point of contact without making the gesture.

Staying With Contact

In my own practice, Heart Bow became part of the way I opened at the Grid before sitting at the Desk. I would stand, bring my hands together, and move into awareness. At times I noticed a feeling throughout my body; early on, I sometimes needed time to ground afterward.

Your experience may be quieter, different, or difficult to name. You do not need to reproduce mine. If the position causes pain, numbness, dizziness, distress, fatigue, or strain, ease it or let your hands rest.
